What can you expect from our 3D ultrasound session?

Ultrasound is a non-invasive procedure that uses sound waves to view areas inside your body. The sound waves are bounced through the body and their reflections are translated into images on a monitor screen. It uses no radiation, dyes, needles or drugs. Is it safe for your baby? The simple answer is "yes". The AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine) statement on Safety in Training and Research approved March 1988 states that after 40 years of testing and use of diagnostic ultrasound there has been no confirmed biological effects on patients or instrument operators caused by exposure at intensities used for diagnostic testing.

Although the possibility exists that such biological effects may be identified in the future, current data indicates that the benefit to the patient outweighs the risk, if any, that may be present. It should also be noted that the FDA has issued statements against the use of ultrasound equipment strictly for entertainment purposes. We could not agree more. The technology we employ in your session is state of the art medical imaging equipment that should only be operated by a trained professional. Although there can be no doubt that 3D ultrasound can be entertaining for both mom and her family, reassurance ultrasounds are not reassuring if the facility conducting the scans is not credentialed or their operators not registered.
